Garden Studio

A work-from-home-dad needed a quiet corner in the garden to work from, work out and sometimes not-work. This home studio and gym sit on a very awkward site, not only in its shape but also in steepness. The idea was to create a solid brick and mortar spine on the side which touches the ground and from there a light wooden structure floats away over the forest-like environment with stunning views over the city. The design incorporates the existing trees on the site, giving the sensation that the trees are sometimes inside the studio. The lofty studio space flows out into a covered deck which floats, almost precariously, over the lower part of the garden four meters below. Perched on a steep slope, surrounded by trees and beautiful views, on a treadmill with your computer in front of you, working has never been more fun.
